(New York – February 8, 2012) A new clinical affiliation will make it easier than ever for patients in New York City, Long Island, and the Hudson Valley to receive state-of-the-art screening, assessment and treatment for complex urologic conditions, as well as improve access to cutting-edge radiation oncology services. The Mount Sinai Hospital and Integrated Medical Professionals, PLLC (IMP)—a multi-specialty practice that includes Advanced Urology Centers of New York (AUCNY) and Advanced Radiation Centers of New York (ARC), the largest independent provider of urological and radiation oncology services in the United States—have formed a partnership that will help change the face of patient care in Urology and Radiation Oncology.

“Mount Sinai is excited to work with this outstanding group of physician leaders in urology and radiation oncology. This affiliation will combine the best of services in providing patients in our community with the best in both community and complex care,” said Wayne E. Keathley, President and Chief Operating Officer of The Mount Sinai Hospital.

Under the new affiliation with Mount Sinai, IMP patients who require tertiary or quaternary care procedures, including the removal of the bladder or kidney, complex renal and robotic surgeries, or complicated reconstruction will be referred to Mount Sinai. A Mount Sinai representative dedicated to IMP patients will help them navigate the scheduling and admissions process, ensuring a seamless transition to Mount Sinai. IMP and Mount Sinai physicians will have access to each others’ electronic medical records, allowing them to monitor the patient’s test results, procedures, and treatments so they are up-to-date on the patient’s care every step of the way. Upon completion of the procedure at Mount Sinai, the patient returns to their IMP physician for follow up.

“We are extremely pleased to form this partnership with Mount Sinai,” said Deepak A. Kapoor, MD, Chairman and CEO of IMP. “As always, our goal is to provide the best patient care we possibly can. Working seamlessly together with Mount Sinai is simply an extension of that mindset and an important bridge for patients, combining the assets of a major academic institution with those of a community practice of the highest quality.”

IMP and Mount Sinai urologists will work together to promote early detection of complex urological conditions and provide state-of-the-art screening, assessment, and treatment tailored to each patient’s unique needs. They will also collaborate on research initiatives to help advance patient care for a broad spectrum of urological conditions, including prostatitis, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and prostate cancer.

“This unique collaboration will create a seamless transition from the stellar services patients receive with IMP to the world-class care for which Mount Sinai is known,” said Simon Hall, MD, Professor and Chair of Urology, The Mount Sinai Medical Center. “We look forward to offering these patients access to Mount Sinai’s renowned experts in complex urology.”

Integrated Medical Professionals has 101 physicians in 52 locations in lower New York State, and provides advanced urology and radiation oncology care. IMP physicians can refer their patients requiring complex surgery to Mount Sinai urologists. Patients treated at Mount Sinai can receive follow up with IMP physicians in their community, and Mount Sinai physicians can refer their patients requiring radiotherapy to one of Advanced Radiation Centers of New York’s six sites, conveniently located throughout the New York metropolitan region. IMP physicians will also have the opportunity to join Mount Sinai as visiting medical staff.
